What more beautiful place could there be to wander or just relax amidst nature? Pensychnant will be open every weekend with wildlife art by Philip Snow, Barbara Winrow, and many others, and Karen’s acclaimed cake stall, serving tea/coffee and locally home-made FairTrade cakes in the sunshine on the lawn (or indoors by the fire). Treat yourself!
Redstarts and Pied Flycatchers are (hopefully) expected and there will be an abundance of wildlife and natural beauty to enjoy.

BLUEBELL AND PRIMROSE WALK
A short walk to see Spring springing. Most years, we walk to see the spectacular bank of primroses at Oakwood in full bloom. And every year we pass by the Goldilocks Buttercup with little thought. This individual buttercup may be endemic to Sychnant, occurring no where else in the world! Julian will try to explain.
About 2½ miles on local footpaths. (Just one short but steep downhill for those of us with achy knees).

BIRD SONG WALK with CAROLE WALKER
Carole has watched and enjoyed birds all her life, but the most part of bird watching is listening. Carole will teach us the songs of some of our familiar garden and woodland birds on a short walk around Pensychnant.

SILVER SMITHING WORKSHOP - SILVER PENDANT
Make your own beautiful sterling silver pendant on a silver chain. Using a variety of techniques you will make a fabulously tactile pendant which will manifest what’s important to you; using stamps we will imprint those all important words onto your pendant.. All materials provided. No experience needed.

BIODIVERSITY QUIZ DAY.
Something new!
In the marquee and around the garden will be a series of
wildlife challenges – some conventional quiz questions, some QI-type questions, nature trails, some identification challenges, some things we haven’t thought of yet!
This is not to be taken too seriously - just a bit of fun to vaguely educate, raise awareness and pique curiosity.
Tea and cake will be on sale as usual and the sun
will be shining!!

EXHIBITION BY NORTH WALES CREATIVE STITCHERS
An exhibition of embroidery and stitchwork reflecting the Creative Stitcher’s
love of nature and conservation. Many of the artworks will be for sale, and
there will be a sales table with fabrics, books and small hand-made items. For

There will be a Stitch Demonstration Day on Saturday 23rd May and
Sunday 14th June where you can learn from group members.

‘HOOFING AROUND’ – AN EXHIBITION BY SIAN ELEN
This is a body of work inspired by the Carneddau ponies and other hoofed
animals which Sian has encountered while out walking. Her paintings
convey the sheer excitment of seeing the ponies dotted around in the vast
expanse of land above Llanfairfechan.
Artist in Residence: Sian Elen will be at Pensychnant on Sunday 28th June
to talk about her work and the inspiration behind it.

‘NATURE OBSERVED’ – AN EXHIBITION BY PAM POWELL
Botanical artist, Pam Powell, depicts plants and leaves studied directly from life
in perfect detail. She uses watercolour to reveal the small details in nature that
are often overlooked, inviting closer attention to each subject, focusing on
the beautiful as well as the useful. The collection encourages a deeper
appreciation of the everyday plants that sustain ecosystems and human life,
and serves as a reminder of the value of noticing, tending and protecting
what grows around us.

CUCKOO WALK
According to legend, centuries ago, the parish council of
Dolwyddelan decided to build a high wall around the
parish to keep the cuckoos therein all year round. We
will be checking Pensychnant’s walls! Hopefully we will
hear the cuckoo, a species which has declined by 65%
since 1980’s.
About 2½ miles. Not far but some steep rocky places.
Bring provisions and binoculars. Donations appreciated.

BIRD WATCHING FOR CHILDREN
WITH KAYA PARSONS-DAVIES
Join Kaya, former RSPB Education Officer, for a fun,
nature-discovery walk to spot some birds using
binoculars. We will explore what birds need to
survive, followed by bird themed activities to
further our learning.
This day is targeted at 8 -11 year olds. All children must be supervised by a responsible adult.

MEADOWS DAY
97% of Britain’s wildflower meadows have been
destroyed since the War. This day will be a blatant
celebration of Pensychnant’s meadows, with instructive
guided walks on the creation and traditional
management of meadows, plant identification,
invertebrate sampling and recording, crafts and
children’s activities.
FairTrade tea & cakes available on
the lawn in the sunshine amidst flowerbeds buzzing
with bees and hoverflies.
Free but donations appreciated.

PENSYCHNANT’S OPEN ART EXHIBITION 2026

4th July - 27th September, 11am -5pm
Pensychnant’s annual ‘Open’ has become our best
exhibition ever, with some of the best artists from
all over Britain, painting in diverse media and
styles. For 2026, all of the pictures will again be
on the theme of Nature, Conservation and the
Environment; some celebrating the beauty of
nature and its importance to our well-being; others
show the threats to nature.
This exhibition will be worth seeing!
And you can vote for your ‘People’s Choice’
which will be announced at the end of the show.
