Mother's Day
Sunday 15th March 11am - 5pm
ONE-DAY WILDLIFE ART SALE
Following Pensychnant’s successful wildlife art exhibitions over the last few years, especially the ‘Open’ which featured artists of local and national acclaim, many artists have donated original artworks to Pensychnant to raise funds for the charity.
There will also be some older works which
Pensychnant has had hidden away. Thanks to all! There are some superb paintings, in various styles and media, and all will be for sale at a discounted price on this one date. If you fell in love with a painting in last year’s exhibition, now is your chance! Or just come to see.
Enjoy Tea & cake by the log fire,
or outdoors if it's sunny!

GARDEN WORK PARTY
Please come along and join our team of volunteers to help with sweeping away the winter and getting ready for Pensychnant’s spring and summer season – this could be raking the drive, weeding the beds, cutting the hedges, maybe having a bonfire………
Tools provided but please bring your own gloves.
Any help appreciated.

HEDGEROW PLANTING WORK PARTY
Woodland Trust have donated x100 native hedgerow whips which we will use to gap-up and extend the hedgerow across Cottage Field for wildlife and shelter.
Come along and join other volunteers in digging, planting and heeling them in (good sturdy boots recommended!).

CONWY SEED FAIR
Pensychnant will again have a stall at Conwy’s ever-popular, 700-year old street fair, with its many and varied contributors.
As for ourselves, we will have much on display to see and a variety of items to buy - plants, bird boxes, cards etc. It's also a great opportunity to pick up a printed Spring Programme. But best of all - it's a chance to say hello and have a chat!
Your support would be most welcome.

Friday 27th March 7pm
GLOW IN THE DARK SLUGS!
Dani Robertson, Dark Skies Officer for Eryri, will take us through Pensychnant’s woods on an ultra-violet torchlight safari. Some familiar plants and animals, fungi and lichens bioflouresce under uv light. This will be a psychadelic trip beyond your imaginings.
Bring warm clothes and torch. Free but donations appreciated

Summer Season 2026

What more beautiful place could there be to wander or just relax amidst nature? Pensychnant will be open every weekend with wildlife art by Philip Snow, Barbara Winrow, and many others, and Karen’s acclaimed cake stall, serving tea/coffee and locally home-made FairTrade cakes in the sunshine on the lawn (or indoors by the fire). Treat yourself!
Redstarts and Pied Flycatchers are (hopefully) expected and there will be an abundance of wildlife and natural beauty to enjoy.

Kazakhstan is a sparsely populated land of deserts and mountains; home to over 500 species of bird including Steppe Eagles, making it a world-class birding destination.

BIRD WATCHING FOR CHILDREN
with KAYA PARSONS-DAVIES
Join Kaya, former RSPB Education Officer, for a fun nature-discovery walk to spot some birds using binoculars. We will explore what birds need to survive, followed by bird themed activities to further our learning.
This day is targeted at 5 – 8 year olds.
All children must be supervised by a responsible adult. Booking advised.

We will empty the moth trap, identifying and recording as we go. This is an excellent opportunity to see and appreciate moths up close, always enjoyed by children and adults alike.

'BIODIVERSITY AT PENSYCHNANT' by JULIAN
Cofnod (North Wales Environmental Information Service) tells us that Pensychnant started 2025 with 29,916 records of 1,719 species. During the year, experts and amateurs were active recording more plants and animals and fungi. Julian will talk about some of them; some common; some rare; some surprising; some challenging to identify.
The 2025 programme of biodiversity events at Pensychnant was supported by Carneddau Landscape Partnership and Heritage Lottery Fund. Thanks Carneddau.​​​

'AT THE STILL POINT' - AN INDOOR CONCERT
by ELFIN BOW, ANAM CARA & TYCERA
Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Elfin Bow, will be joined by songwriter and vocalist, Tycera, and musician Anam Cara, for an intimate, uplifting and magical evening. The original songs are all written by Elfin Bow, the great great granddaughter of Abraham Henthorn Stott, and follow the theme of their exhibition, At the Still Point, and forthcoming book, The Power of Centredness.
This will be special.

BAT WATCHING
with DANI ROBERTSON
Pensychnant has a maternity roost of 100+ Lesser Horseshoe Bats in its Boiler House – maybe ½% of the Welsh population. With Dani, Eryri’s Dark Skies Officer, we will watch the bats emerge, listen to their weird echolocation, and then wander around Pensychnant to find other species.

Pensychnant will be hosting a Spring Craft-Fair with various local makers and artists: haberdashery and silver jewellery, leatherwork, beaded jewellery, crochet, cyanolumen art, natural toiletries, needle-felted crafts, nature-themed face painting and much more. As always there will be plenty of things you never knew you wanted on Pensychnant’s renowned White Elephant stall, and Fairtrade tea and cake on the lawn in the sunshine.

A short wander in Pensychnant’s woods to see the Spring migrants and resident birds.
By now nesting should be well underway: Pied Flycatcher, Redstart, Cuckoo, Linnet, Chough, maybe Great Bustard,…..

A different sort of talk for COS – about some of the fascinating folklore which surrounds our birdlife.

BLUEBELL AND PRIMROSE WALK
A short walk to see Spring springing. Most years, we walk to see the spectacular bank of primroses at Oakwood in full bloom. And every year we pass by the Goldilocks Buttercup with little thought. This individual buttercup may be endemic to Sychnant, occurring no where else in the world! Julian will try to explain.
About 2½ miles on local footpaths. (Just one short but steep downhill for those of us with achy knees).

Carole has watched and enjoyed birds all her life, but the most part of bird watching is listening. Carole will teach us the songs of some of our familiar garden and woodland birds on a short walk around Pensychnant.

Make your own beautiful sterling silver pendant on a silver chain. Using a variety of techniques you will make a fabulously tactile pendant which will manifest what’s important to you; using stamps we will imprint those all important words onto your pendant..
