FFAIR NADOLIG 2
The first Christmas Fair, last weekend, was a great success thanks to all the volunteers who stewarded, served cakes, put up marquees, parked cars, and cleaned and skivvied. Such a supportive, heartfelt community effort makes me very proud of Pensychnant. This fair is important to us. At a time when the charity is moving forward ambitiously, we need the money, but it is more than this: Pensychnant‘s Christmas Fair is a Dickensian ideal, somehow apart from this modern clamouring world. This is what Christmas is about, with a 12’ Christmas tree and open fire, FairTrade tea and cake in the Aga Kitchen, mulled wine, and many various local craft stalls. It is an opportunity to find unusual and special hand-made gifts for Christmas; and all proceeds go to nature conservation at Pensychnant.
Local craft stalls include, pottery, needle-felting, local authors,, jewellery, beadwork, Christmas cards, calendars and jigsaws, silvercraft, wood turning, crochet & knitting, willow weaving, local honey ....... This will be a different compliment of craftworkers to the first fair, so even if you came last week, you should come again.
Very special again, the Beehive Yaffle Raffle is back. Sponsored by @Beehive Coaching and Leadership Development and b.SAFE safety culture, this year, we’re celebrating more of the incredible local businesses that make our community special.
We’ve teamed up with Julie and the team at VinoMondo, Fine Wines of Conwy to create a beautiful hamper of locally produced cheeses, wines, beers and spirits, which will be raffled as our Winter Prize. This is worth winning! All proceeds from the Yaffle Raffle go directly to support conservation work at Pensychnant. Thanks Beehive! Thanks Vinomondo!
We look forward to seeing you....

FEELINGS FROM THE CARIBBEAN
– ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES
by Ivett, Gabry, and Ines
Volunteering abroad can mean a lot of different things to a lot of people. With this presentation, three climate activists, Ines from Portugal, Gabry from Italy, and Ivett from Hungary, want to share what it meant to them.
After three months of training at the College for International Cooperation and Development in England, they spent 3 months in St. Vincent, giving Climate Change presentations in primary schools, working alongside locals, creating connections and learning from each other. Through discussions, games, videos and activities, they helped children understand why Climate Change matters and they explored solutions such as home gardens, permaculture and organic farming.
One thing is for sure. Climate Activism can look very different from what you hear in the news.
For example, teaching young kids in the local Primary Schools about Climate Change: It’s hard. It’s a heavy topic, but it is so important for them to know, as small island nations like St Vincent and the Grenadines are very vulnerable to the effects of Climate Change. We are talking about their future.
There is one thing that is necessary to create change, and that is listening to the community that we want to create change with.
The presentation is about the locals, the fight they have started decades ago, and the hope that Ivett, Ines, and Gabry gained from being lucky enough to work with them. '
