WILDFIRES 2026

PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT

Sunday 20th September,1pm

Professional photographer and Mother, Ciara Doone Rush is working on a project to help raise awareness, increase engagement and start conversations around climate change after this incredibly difficult Summer of heatwaves and wildfires. Fears for the future are especially poignant for her as a Mum, but the well-being of future generations should be important to us all. The project is a combination of photography & film, taking portraits of mothers and their children set against the backdrops of the the recent local wildfires, to create a powerful series of images which capture the devastation and bring the incredibly human aspect of all this to the forefront of people's minds. The next shoot date is Sunday at Pensychnant where 230 acres were devastated by wildfire in July. Please message Ciara if you’re interested in joining or getting involved in the project in anyway. ciara@doonerush.co.uk (Your children's faces do not need to be visible in the photos)

A SPECIAL VISITOR TO PENSYCHNANT

- IOLO WILLIAMS

Friday 4th September

Pensychnant was honoured to welcome Iolo Williams on Friday to an informal gathering of moth enthusiasts with tea & cake. (I don't think it's a secret that Iolo likes cake). To have such support from Iolo and so many others is a really heart-warming boost for the charity. Iolo shared our enthusiasm for moths and looked round the wildlife art exhibition, which includes a portrait of himself, by Beverley Marmont-Hill (Not sure what he thought of having a portrait!). We hope that this may be the first visit of many.

Zero Waste Fashion Project at Pensychnant

Sunday 23rd August

The vision was birthed by Sarah Angharad Loves and Karen Pensychnant on a winters evening whilst sat chatting in front of the impressive fireplace at Pensychnant.

The Mission: To inspire and develop skills to save fashion items from landfill as well as send a message out that we need to do more to stem this tide of fast fashion and reimagine our wardrobes with creative makeovers.

Fabulous upcycled items have been created and best of all - a real upcycling stitching community has been formed with more plans afoot…
