ADDER
26th April 2026
This male Adder, spotted by Susan Loose on the drive at Pensychnant, is one of the most exciting finds recently.
30 years ago, adders could be taken for granted at Pensychnant and on Conwy Mountain, but they haven't been recorded here since 2001. The 'Make Adders Count' project by @arc.trust.official in 2019 concluded that adders could be extinct in UK in all but the biggest and best sites by 2032. 90% of adder populations are in decline due to habitat degradation and fragmentation, and human disturbance and persecution. We are heedlessly witnessing the loss of much of our once ubiquitous wildlife.

BIRD WATCHING FOR CHILDREN
with KAYA PARSONS-DAVIES
Pensychnant has had its first nature discovery session for children on Saturday 11th April 2pm-4pm.
The children learnt how to use their binoculars and got a chance to look and listen to some of the woodland birds that call Pensychnant their home (including a lovely view of the Pied Flycatcher). To top it all off we made our own nests, sang like birds and made a bird treat to hang up in the garden.
